Leadership Juneau promotes informed and committed civic
volunteerism. The program prepares and encourages a diverse group of
emerging leaders to assume community trustee roles in shaping the
future of Juneau and Alaska.
Leadership Juneau aims to attract the next wave of community
leaders by providing individuals with the skills and understanding
necessary to fulfill future leadership positions in the regions'
government, business, and non-profit communities.
Through a challenging curriculum that offers leadership skills
training, experiential educational programming, and the opportunity
to complete community impact projects, Leadership Juneau will offer
a forum for emerging leaders to understand how to make positive
contributions to the greater Southeast Alaska community.
- Define and build core skills and values necessary for
successful community, regional, and statewide leadership
- Stimulate critical and creative thinking to develop
initiatives that address the needs of the region
- Provide a space for honest, respectful, and open discussion
amongst participants
- Build knowledge and insight on major issues facing the
Juneau region
- Prepare regional leaders

The Community Impact projects are a major component of Leadership
Juneau. Teams identify a need within the community, align themselves
with a community partner, and produce a project that results in the
betterment of the community.

A selection committee chooses participants based on a completed
application submitted by the applicant. The program seeks
representation from a cross-section of the Juneau community.
Therefore, preference will be given to candidates who, in addition
to their potential for leadership, would contribute to the overall
diversity of the class. Participants must have a commitment to
community service and civic involvement. Class size is limited to
30.
