In response to recent interest/inquiries and positive survey results, United Way of Southeast Alaska will be hosting a grant writing workshop on Wednesday, August 1, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM for our partner agencies, local organizations, and interested individuals.

Workshop Curriculum

As funding for non-profits, community-based organizations, universities and colleges continues to be cut, the need for skilled grant writers will only increase. This workshop will benefit individuals seeking work in this growing field, as well as organizations who want to enhance the skill set of their staff members.  Taught by Staci Treadway, an adjunct education and continuing/professional studies instuctor for the University of Virginia and Lynchburg College, this Grant Writing Workshop will impart the basic skills and knowledge necessary to create a successful grant funding plan.  Participants will learn to:

  • navigate the complexities of funding environment
  • develop credibility as an applicant
  • research, measure, and objectively articulate the community need to be addressed in the proposed grant
  • write effective, professional, and marketable grant proposals and avoid common grant writing mistakes

Workshop Cost

Partner Agencies                $139.00 per individual (includes lunch and materials)
Non-Partner Agencies         $179.00 per individual (includes lunch and materials)
