Juneau Cares Meal Program

Restaurant applications are closed now.

The United Way Juneau CARES Meal Program provides meals to our community members in need and helps stimulate the local restaurant economy at the same time. With coordination from The Glory Hall and The Salvation Army, in 2020 we delivered meals in Juneau injecting $645,000 into our local economy. It has become a truly community endeavor, with 19 different restaurants preparing meals. As we continue on in 2021 with a reduced program due to funding, we are still working on feeding community members in need and providing economic stimulus to our local businesses. If you are interested in preparing meals for the program; please contact Kirk Stagg at juneaucaresprogrammanager@unitedwayseak.org

Program highlights:

  • 54,052 plus meals have been served by end of 2020 with coordination from The United Way

  • 7,235 additional meals currently scheduled through January 31,2021

  • An estimated 62,887 total meals would be prepared by end of grant

We also worked in partnership with Alaska Seaplanes and The Salvation Army to airlift 600 meals to Haines after devastating landslides and flooding. We sent an additional 200 meals on the ferry due to weather. We also delivered supplies by ferry for local Haines restaurants to make another 250 meals for relief aid and help stimulate the local economy in a small but meaningful way.
